Cub Central FAQ

Q1How do I get into the private area?
A1See the membership information page for how to get an account.
Q2My password isn't working, what can I do?
A2Fill out this password recovery form and the site admin will fix it for you.
Q3How can I contribute something I've drawn/written/etc. to Cub Central?
A3Contact the site admin. This page has all the info you need to do that.
Q4I only have freemail/webmail addresses, how can I get an account?
A4The membership information page lists your other options for membership.
Q5Why can't I even enter addresses from some ISPs (e.g. AOL) into the forms?
A5Some ISPs block email from our servers, usually due to misguided or over-zealous anti-SPAM measures. If we find out about this, and can't convince the ISP in question to allow our messages through, we add them to our "bad domains" filter to alert you that we can't send messages to that address.
Q6I registered with my paid-for email address, but I prefer to use my webmail account everyday. Can I enter that on the user settings page even though it's free/anonymous?
A6YES! In fact, we strongly recommend entering your favourite webmail address on this page, even if you only use it occasionally, as a backup to your main one just in case.
Q7What happens if I don't have the email address I used to signup anymore?
A7That's OK, just delete it from your account settings page and put your new email address there instead. All you need to make sure is that there's at least one working address there, it doesn't even have to be a 'paid-for' one.
Q8Will I lose my account if I don't have a paid address anymore?
A8No! Not if you keep your contact details up to date. See Q6 and Q7 above.
Q9What happens if I don't keep my listed email address up to date?
A9Every three months we will send an email to your address to check it's valid. If you don't respond to that email, or it bounces, then that address will be marked as invalid. If all the addresses in your account settings are marked as invalid for longer than 30 days, your account will be disabled.
Q10Is there FTP access to the archive?
A10Unfortunately, due to problems with our FTP server, it has been disabled. We are looking at options to setup a new FTP system in the future, but there are no current plans so far.
Q11Are there any extra or "secret" files on the FTP site?
A11No, it's just provided as an easier way to get to the files if you want to download all of them at once, or simply don't like our HTML indexes.
Q12Is Cub Central a babyfur site?
A12No. See the note at the end of the disclaimer page for more details.
