Uploads and Submissions Policy
Guidelines
Cub Central is always looking for new artists who'd like to contribute to our collection of furry and cartoon artwork and stories. We do have a few rules though:
- Cub Central is a specialist site dedicated to hosting works containing furry or cartoon characters under the ages of puberty for their species. Right now we don't have the bandwith and server space to compete with the mainstream furry and cartoon archives, so we'd prefer to concentrate on material that isn't available on those.
- You must be the original artist of a picture, or author of a story to submit it to Cub Central. To protect the copyrights of artists and authors we can't accept submissions or uploads by someone other than the copyright holder unless we also have written (emailed) permission from them.
Getting Upload Permission
To keep everything organised, every contributor needs an account and access to the uploads server, even if you only want to submit work via email. This is a (hopefully) simple process:
- Email the site admin at: cubcent-at-cubcentral.org and say you'd like to become a contributor. You should include in your email:
- Your existing Cub Central username, if you have one, or a preferred username if you don't.
- Your preferred display name for your directory on the site.
- A sample of your work, either attached to the email, or a pointer to a website you already have.
Once we get this information we'll send you a confirmation, and a guide to uploading.
- Our preferred method of uploading is via a web form on our site. We also have a FTP server for batch uploads, and accept submissions via email for admin to process by hand.
- For security when emailing us, you can use one of our GPG keys
Copyright and Distribution Information
What you need to know before uploading:
- You will retain ownership and copyright of all work uploaded to Cub Central. All your work should be signed by you and include a copyright notice.
- When you upload to Cub Central, we may resize, reformat, crop or otherwise alter the uploaded file in order to fit in with the site. We will also create a thumbnail image alongside any image upload. Once an upload has been accepted, you will get a chance to preview it and see the results of this processing.
- By uploading a file to Cub Central you are giving us permission to make copies of the work itself, and derivitave works, on our servers, and to publish these copies on your behalf. This will be limited to electronic distribution via our WWW, FTP and email servers.
- You may revoke our permission to distribute your work at any time by deleting the file from our master server.
